Comfort Maximized - From New Plants to Air Conditioner Service

December 11, 2015

With colder weather settled in and days that seem like there’s very little any daylight, it can be hard to always feel like your home is a comfy place to be. That goes far beyond having annual air conditioner service too, because there are various things you can do to help make your home feel comfortable even when your air conditioner is running at its best.

Here are four that we find especially helpful here in Port St. Lucie:

  • Seal air leaks. Air leaks, whether they’re around your windows or your doors, can mean quite a bit of air is sneaking out of your home. And, the air that you’ve just paid to be heated or cooled is making its way outside as well. There are various choices that can help you shut those gaps, from weatherstripping to caulking, and they are relatively basic fixes for homeowners to handle themselves.
  • Switch your air conditioner filter. This is one of the most critical things you can do to not only increase your air conditioner’s efficiency, but also to help save you money. Plus, you don’t need to have your air conditioner service technician to do it, you can take care of it yourself. It’s usually recommended to swap your air conditioner filter every one or two months to get the most out of its capabilities, but some can last even longer.
  • Buy plants. Indoor plants can provide a host of comforts for your home. Not only are they visually pleasing, they could likely better your indoor air quality as well because plants absorb a host of contaminants that are emitted from a host of common household cleaners, paints and other products.
  • Air conditioner service. This should be something that you’re already taking care of, but it never hurts to have a reminder. Having air conditioner service completed annually helps you be sure that your air conditioner is in working-order, and if there’s a need for repairs, those can be fixed so your comfort isn’t in trouble.

It doesn’t have to feel hard to keep a comfortable home when winter sets in. Feel free to give us a call at 772-247-2283  to talk about any of these suggestions or find out more about air conditioners, our air conditioner service or anything else comfort related.
